The Junior Devils

Dear Parents and Players,

The Tempe Rugby Club was founded in 1980 and is a 501c(3) non-profit group that offers the opportunity for boys and girls who are enrolled in high school in the Phoenix Metropolitan area to experience and enjoy the sport of rugby. Tempe strives to provide the highest standard and quality of coaching, foster teamwork, cultivate a winning focus, and to develop each player to the best of his/her potential in a fun and safe environment. All coaches, parents, supporters, and players are expected to be mindful of and abide by the Club Code of Conduct, which emphasizes respect for the opposition, referee, supporters, the game, and Tempe’s winning legacy.

The Tempe Rugby Club is registered with USA Rugby and competes in up to two high school age divisions each year, which includes U16 and U19. The Jr. Devils are coached by USA Rugby certified coaches and includes current and former senior members of the Tempe Rugby Club, all of which have advanced playing experience nationally and internationally.

The High School season generally begins with a competitive 7s schedule in the Fall (Nov/Dec) and a competitive league schedule in the Spring with playoffs and championships wrapping up in April. Extra rugby is available for some during Tempe’s Summer 7s Program. Generally, our Teams practice twice per week and play on weekends, which provides for some flexibility for members of our Club that are multisport athletes (football, wrestling, etc.) and hoping to balance other interests with Club rugby.

The Tempe Rugby Club Youth and High School Teams are always looking for athletes of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels…no experience is required and nobody gets cut.
